My background is in neural engineering with experience in electrical stimulation, neurophysiology, and machine learning. After years focused on treating sensorimotor dysfunction, I was drawn to urology by the need for improved bladder function in people with spinal cord injury. My current research focuses on restoring urological function, with an emphasis on advancing neuromodulation therapies, rethinking animal models and translational research, and improving physiological testing in people. Areas of interest include urgency urinary incontinence, neurogenic bladder (spinal cord injury, spina bifida), anatomy and physiology, neural circuits, and big data/efficient clinical studies.
Between trying to stay in shape, trying to spend at least some time with my family, and trying to maintain professional relevance, I struggle to find free time. When I do find some free time I often try and reach out to socialize with friends and family.
